According to the Home Office, there have been 16 terrorist incidents around the world in 2021 so far.

Two of those were in the UK – the David Amess stabbing on October 15 and the Liverpool car bombing on November 14.

The remaining 16 incidents took place in Pakistan, Iraq, Mozambique, Indonesia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Peru, Afghanistan, New Zealand and Syria.

The deadliest of these incidents is believed to be the suicide bombing on August 26 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The explosion took place near Abbey Gate at Hamid Karzai International Airport and came hours after the USA told Americans outside the airport to leave due to a terrorist threat.

At least 183 people were killed in the attacks, including 13 US service members, two British nationals and a child of a British national.
