Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle start-up, has launched its first electric scooter, the Simple One, priced at ₹ 1,09,999 lakh (Ex-showroom). The Simple One has a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery offering a maximum claimed range of 236 km, with normal claimed range of 203 km in Eco mode. Top speed is claimed at 105 kmph, with acceleration of 0 to 40 kmph claimed in just 2.9 seconds. The Simple One has 72 Nm of torque and 4.5 kW of power and comes with a kerb weight of 110 kg and boot space of 30 litres.

Prices for the Simple One will vary according to state-wise EV subsidy

The price will change in different states according to individual state subsidies. The Simple One is available for pre-orders starting today at ₹ 1,947. The company will be launching operations in 75 cities across 13 cities in the next few months, and intends to launch operations across 175 cities over the next year. Customers from across India can pre-order the Simple One from August 15, 2021.The company hasn’t announced when deliveries will begin from customers who book the Simple One.

The Simple One is a connected scooter, which is 4G enabled, and also gets a long list of features, with Bluetooth connectivity

The Simple One is a connected scooter which is 4G enabled, and will have four riding modes, Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic which can be accessed through a 7-inch touchscreen panel. There’s a long list of features, including Bluetooth connectivity, geo-fencing, over-the-air updates, onboard navigation, access to music control and call control to the connected smartphone, as well as remote telemetrics and even a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The company has also lanched the Simple Loop charging network for public charging as well as home charging. The company intends to launch over 300 charging stations in the next 7 months across 13 states.

The Simple One gets 30 litres of boot space

The Simple One comes with a removable battery pack weighing 7 kg, which can be charged at any 15A charging socket. The electric scooter has a tubular steel chassis with telescopic front fork, symmetrically mounted progressive monoshock rear suspension, and 12-inch wheels with 200 mm front disc and 180 mm rear disc. The braking system has been developed in-house and patented by Simple Energy.

The Simple One electric scooter comes with a chain final drive. Claimed top speed is 105 kmph, and maximum claimed range of 236 km.

The Simple One has been launched simultaneously across 13 states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab. Each state where the Simple One will be available will have at least one experience centre, while the rest will be on the franchise model. The company has already finalised company-owned experience centres in cities of each of the states, to be scaled up soon, to commence deliveries at the earliest. When production begins, pre-orders will be given priority delivery.

The company is also working on a 2,00,000 square feet factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Simple Energy intends to produce 1 million scooters annually in Phase 1 of its factory operations.
