Queen Elizabeth II news: Duchess of Cambridge Pearl brooch has ‘sentimental’ meaning

“The brooch is classic in its design: a large pearl, surrounded by a cluster of diamonds, with a diamond and pearl pendant suspended from the cluster,” experts at the Court Jeweller commented.

“Sentimentally, Mary chose this important family heirloom brooch for two very important family occasions.”

Queen Mary chose to wear the heirloom for two key outings, the first being the christening of Queen Elizabeth II.

The royal bore the pin again for the christening of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.

The eye-catching piece made it’s way into the Queen’s collection in 1953 when she inherited it from her grandmother.
