New Brunswick hiker finds human remains in wooded area northeast of Saint John – Winnipeg Free Press

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Police in southern New Brunswick are investigating the discovery of human remains in a heavily wooded area northeast of Saint John.

The Saint John Police Force says the skeletal remains were found Friday evening by a hiker in an area between the community of Lakewood Heights and Golden Grove Road.

A forensic identification unit later confirmed the remains were human.

Police then started a search of the site.

The scene was secured until a more thorough grid search could be conducted with the help of volunteer ground search and rescue teams.

Investigators are asking members of the public, including those on all-terrain vehicles, to avoid the area.
