Meghan and Harry’s ‘low-key’ Valentine’s Day as ‘a family unit’ – ‘different’ from royals

Charlotte Johnson, sex and relationship expert at Mega Pleasure, explained how Meghan and Harry are spending Valentine’s Day this year.

She said: “This year I suspect Meghan and Harry will be spending Valentine’s Day in their home in Los Angeles with their two young children.

“After announcing their second pregnancy last Valentine’s Day with a black and white photoshoot, this year is their first Valentine’s Day as a family of four so I’m sure the pair will want to celebrate the day as a family unit.”

The relationship expert said this Valentine’s Day will be much more “relaxed” for the couple than the ones they spent in the Royal Family and very different to how other royals, like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, celebrate the occasion.

She said: “During the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry also appeared to criticise the way he was raised by Prince Charles, discussing the ‘genetic pain and suffering’ in the Royal Family and stressing that he wanted to ‘break the cycle’ for his children.

“Now that the pair have left the Royal Family and live in the States, Harry says his shoulders have ‘dropped’ and he feels freer.

“This suggests that the pair’s Valentine’s Day will now be different to normal and we can expect a more relaxed day spent with the children away from the public eye.”

But how exactly are Meghan and Harry celebrating the most romantic day of the year in Los Angeles?

According to Charlotte, “it is highly likely the couple spend this Valentine’s Day with the children in their Los Angeles home”.

Back in 2015, Meghan shared her advice for those spending Valentine’s Day on their own.

Speaking on her blog The Tig she said: “I think you need to be your own Valentine. I think you need to cook that beautiful dinner even when it’s just you, wear your favourite outfit, buy yourself some flowers, and celebrate the self-love that often gets muddled when we focus on what we don’t have.

“[…] I’m not going to wait for someone to buy me the things I covet (nor do I want to), and because I want to treat myself as well as I treat those dearest to me.

“Because I am my own funny Valentine.

“Whether you have a special someone, you’ll be with friends, or you’ll be flying solo, be good to yourself. Love yourself, treat yourself, honour yourself and celebrate you. Be your own beautiful, darling, cherished and funny Valentine. You deserve it.”

The relationship expert said “Meghan’s attitude towards Valentine’s Day has surely changed ever since meeting Harry”.

Charlotte explained: “Meghan and Harry first started dating in 2016 and got engaged the following year with the couple living in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

“Having moved forward at a relatively fast pace, it is clear she knew she’d found the right person for her.”
