McDonald’s is one of the most popular fast food chains across the world, and used frequently amongst Britons keen for a bite to eat. However, it isn’t just fast food the chain is now preoccupied with, and its latest endeavour seeks to give Britons prizes while simultaneously helping the environment. McDonald’s has said it is keen to play a leading role in sparking a change across the nation when it comes to litter – something which can be dangerous to the longevity of the planet.
Unfortunately, the fast food restaurant has far too often seen its own packaging littering Britain’s roadsides, and it is determined to do something to help.
As a result it has launched a new partnership with the prize draw app, LitterLotto, providing those in support of a cleaner environment with prize incentives to bin their litter.
Britons will be able to secure prizes just for binning their litter, in a great way to make some extra cash.
The prizes via the LitterLotto App now range from £5 to a staggering £10,000, a perfect incentive for many.

Simon Jacobs, ‘Lord of Litter’ at LitterLotto, said: “We’re so excited to be launching LitterLotto in the UK, and an exclusive partnership with McDonald’s UK.
“We’ll be working together to incentivise people to bin their litter responsibly, and experience the joy of binning by winning prizes through the LitterLotto app.
“Together with McDonald’s UK, we’re on a quest to reduce litter, protect wildlife, clear our rivers and oceans of waste material – and make more waste available for recycling.”
The fast food chain undertook a survey to discover the causes behind litter, and why people leave behind their rubbish.
Its survey found seven in ten adults asked believe laziness to be the main reason for the rubbish which litters British streets.
Some 58 percent of the UK public describe litter as a “major problem” which is impacting their local area.
In addition, 30 percent of those asked said the most common areas they observed for litter are outside fast food or takeaway outlets.
London is the biggest offender with 25 percent of its inhabitants have knowingly littered but East Midlands has the moral high ground with 72 percent asserting that they have never littered.
Indeed, 55 percent of men in the UK stated that they have littered, however 63 percent of women claimed to have never done it.
The survey asked 2,000 adults about their opinions on litter and how the issue is impacting the country.
To get involved and potentially secure extra cash, Britons can download the LitterLotto app on smartphones – either via the App Store or Google Play.
There is no cost for people to enter, other than placing their litter into a bin. People may also be able to boost their chances of winning by inviting their contacts to join the app also.
