Kate Middleton & Meghan Markle wore identical shoes on early engagement together

Meghan Markle, 41, and Kate Middleton, 40, rarely appear together for royal engagements anymore as the Duchess of Sussex stepped down as a senior member of the Royal Family back in 2020. However, for one of their first joint engagements, the duo seemingly showed their growing bond with their shoe choices.

In March 2018 for the Commonwealth Day ceremony, the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex were perfectly in sync with their style as they arrived together.

Kate and her sister-in-law Meghan both appeared to be wearing navy suede heels, which looked virtually identical from afar.

However, a closer look shows a very minimal difference between the two pairs. Meghan opted for her trademark stiletto heel, while Kate’s shoes had an ever so slightly thicker heel.

Both pairs were similar in shade and pointed. The pregnant Kate, who at the time was expecting her third child, Prince Louis, recycled her trusty pair of Malory pumps by Rupert Sanderson.

Kate had previously worn the shoes in February 2016 when she attended a church service to mark the 75th anniversary of the Royal Air Force Cadets.

The heels are a signature pump of the Rupert Sanderson collection and came in a range of colours and fabrics. It featured a 100mm heel height and classic pointed toe.

These pumps still retail online for a whopping £495, four years after Kate wore them at the service.

The description says: “Epitomising Rupert’s penchant for elegant design, our bestselling Malory pumps in Navy Suede will seamlessly pair with any well-edited wardrobe.

DON’T MISS:

“Created with comfort and style in mind, this timeless court features a pointed toe and sits on a slim 100mm heel.”

The most recent time Kate has been seen wearing these pumps was earlier this year in May when she visited Glasgow for Mental Health Week.

Meghan, meanwhile, wore the navy BB pumps by Manolo Blahnik at the 2018 service, which still retail online for £545. The former actress also has the same pair in black.

The brand’s signature style is named after French movie star Brigitte Bardot and features a pointed toe and a thin 100mm heel.

Their description says: “Navy suede pointed toe court shoes with a stiletto high heel.”

It continues with a quote from Manolo Blahnik: “Every season I explore and aim to achieve the perfect shape and cut for my court shoe.

“I first designed the ‘BB’, which is named after Brigitte Bardot, one of my greatest inspirations, in 2008 and it became a classic. It’s a good shoe for every occasion.”

She’s worn them numerous times since, including at the royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank and on the royal tour of South Africa.

Prince Harry’s then-fiancée looked typically stylish for her outing at Westminster Abbey in 2018, which was her first official engagement with the late Queen.

Meghan opted for a navy dress and an £895 white coat by Amanda Wakeley.

She wore her sleek and straight brunette locks loose under a dazzling white hat by Stephen Jones.

Kate, meanwhile, dressed her baby bump in a beautiful navy dress by Beulah London and a navy hat by Lock & Co.
