Kate Middleton: Duchess mirrors Prince William’s body language to signal ‘equality’

Kate Middleton, 39, married Prince William, 38, in Westminster Abbey 10 years ago. The couple previously met one another at university before becoming engaged in 2010.

Prince William proposed to the future Duchess in Kenya while on holiday at Lewa Safari Camp.

Fast forward to 2021, the couple now have three children, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

The family-of-four were seen regularly out in public before the pandemic, with their last appearance together in December.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, body language expert Judi James analysed the couple’s signals and used her expert knowledge to suggest what their body language shows.

At the time, Judi explained that the couple looked “as tight as ever, with shared thinking and a desire to create an impression of an evenly-balanced double-act”.

The couple can regularly be seen mirroring one another when walking, sitting down and when talking.

Judi added: “The Cambridges have always had a trait of mirroring one another and this mimicry or postural echo has suggested like-minded thinking and shared goals and objectives.

“They look as in agreement over their royal status and destiny as they do over their parenting and their relationship as a couple.”

However, Judi revealed that their gesture of mirroring has become more prominent recently.

She said: “During recent outings this mirroring seems to have become even more pronounced than usual.

“William and Kate have been sitting in similar poses and using matching hand gestures when they are speaking or walking side by side.

“When we can see eye-glances being exchanged there is a feeling that they are gaining strength from one another and William has been caught throwing a very fond and admiring look at his wife as she speaks, suggesting he is proud of the way she is handling the new pressure.

“When William was asked those questions recently about speaking to his brother it looked telling that he used Kate as his excuse for walking off, veering across towards her and placing one steering and protective-looking arm out to move her on and away from the press.

“Once he had ‘checked in’ with his wife though, he appeared to feel more comfortable about replying to the questions that he clearly felt very strongly about.”
