German police raid world’s biggest child porn network with 400,000 members | World | News

Officers arrested four men accused of running the biggest child porn site and closed down the online network. The platform known as BOYSTOWN was set up in July 2019. It existed only on the so-called Darkewb. Police were aided by investigators in Canada, the US, Australia, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Three main suspects were taken into custody for questioning. They are suspected of running the giant porn site as administrators.

They are also accused of offering technical support and advice to users on how to slip under the radar and avoid being caught by authorities.

They include a 40-year-old from Paderborn, a 49-year-old from Munich and a 58-year-old from northern Germany who had been living in Paraguay for many year.

The man, a German citizen, was found in the Concepcion region of the South American country.

He is to be extradited on the basis of an international arrest warrent issued by a court in Frankfurt.

The fourth man is accused of uploading more than 3,500 images and videos to the site.

The 64-year-old from Hamburg created an account on the platform in 2019.

Police described him as “one of the platform’s most active users”.

In a statement, federal police said: “Among the images and video recordings shared were also recordings of the most severe sexual abuse of young children.”

They said the site had been “set up for the worldwide exchange of child pornography”.

It focused mainly but not exclusively on the abuse of young boys.

The forum enabled users to communicate with each other through chat areas and voice channels.

Photos and videos uploaded showed “serious sexual abuse of toddlers”, the police said.

The arrests followed a months-long investigation which German authorities had instigated while coordinating with Europol.
