Blue Christmas was written by Billy Hayes and Jay W Johnson, but was made famous by The King’s version for his 1957 record, Elvis’ Christmas Album.

The track reached No 11 in the UK singles chart and No 1 on Billboard’s US Christmas singles chart.

For the 1968 live version depicted in the post, Elvis played electric rhythm and lead guitar.

The star was accompanied by Scotty Moore on acoustic rhythm guitar, Charlie Hodge on the same and backing vocals, plus DJ Fontana and Alan Fortas on percussion, with Lance LeGault on tambourine.
